Week 106 Hooter's (Southwest Location)

Happy Labor Day readers! We are almost caught up with all our reviews. Can you imagine all the time in life you would have if you weren't working? Hey, it's okay...Brett and and I are very blessed that we both love our jobs and they allow us to live a wonderful life.

What Teray Says...

I really and truly believe that Brett was expecting me to pick all of these places all 9 months now that I am pregnant. Wrong...once in awhile I may get a craving here or there but it is never for anything crazy. Find a place that sells Greek yogurt and fruit and I would be there everyday. Oh and add in a side of edamame. :)

This week we figured we would go to Hooter's because we wanted casual, easy bar food without the bar scene. I know this sounds terrible, but I feel like going to a bar or club while preggo (at least if there is not a designated non-smoking section) is kind of trashy. It always makes me think of that scene in Sweet Home Alabama. If you know what I am talking about, we can be great friends. 

Anyway, Hooter's was an easy choice, because we knew we could get seated right away and we didn't have to drive too far from home. Who are we kidding? I am the driver for 4 more months now. I don't mind at all though. 

Brett started off with a beer and I of course water with 3 lemons. We chose southwest spring rolls for an appetizer and they were amazing, like beyond amazing. I think the fact that I try to stay away from fried food so much made them even better. At least, Lincoln is getting a treat here and there. 

For our meals I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich which came with french fries and Brett go the shrimp po' boy. The sandwich was huge and the amount of fries that came with it could be shared. I know speaking for myself, if I was going to eat bad, I might as well enjoy it to the fullest, and  I definitely did. This sandwich was DELICIOUS. I ate every bite on my plate, which is rare, even while preggo.

The service was fabulous and the place was clean. It was a fun atmosphere with sports on in the background. I didn't pay attention to those, I found a Las Vegas Weekly to read instead. Overall, I really enjoyed Hooter's and wouldn't mind coming here during football season with friends (for the food and virigin Bloody Mary drinks of course). I rate Hooter's 5 out of 5. 

What Brett Says...

Not knowing what we wanted...hard to believe I have a pregnant wife that doesn't have normal pregnant cravings.  I mean I was looking forward to this pregnancy so I wouldn't have to pick where to eat for 9 months.  Unfortunately for me Teray craves yogurt, fruit, and all other healthy things.  I mean it's obviously working since she is still looking hot, but that still doesn't make it any easier on me.  I turned to the Entertainment book and saw a buy one get one free coupon for a place that would return me to a time when the coolest thing to do on the weekend was going to Hooter's.  I mean, at 16 it doesn't get any better then hot girls in short shorts and low cut tops.  Now at 29 with a wife and a kid on the way I'm not going to complain about all that but now I choose Hooter's for the coupon and good food.  Not having had it in a long time we decided to check it out.  We went to the one on Rainbow near Warm Springs.

If you haven't been it is a guys restaurant that is family oriented.  Everything is lacquered wood; the tables, the floor, the bar and the stools.  There are televisions everywhere with pretty much every sport on.  Most Hooter's out there are beer only, this one being in Vegas has gaming and liquor.  The waitress' wear short orange shorts, nylons, and low cut white tank tops...all in a surprisingly classy way.  The thing I like about Hooter's is the service is always great, the girls seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs, they are friendly and just have fun.  Overall it is just a laid back fun environment...like I said a guys restaurant.

They are known for their wings, not knowing for sure I would say they brought wings to the world.  We however did not get any, I don't get it either.  We started things off with spring roll plate, it was delicious.  Just to make sure it went down right I had some mugs of beer, ice cold.  For dinner I decided to get the "Shrimp Po Boy" which is a shrimp sandwich on a long roll.  This is a new item from my high school and college days.  I decided to mix it up, I'm glad I did.  The sandwich was surprisingly filling and also had the perfect flavor.  Probably wouldn't beat a seafood restaurant but for a place know for it's wings and "atmosphere" is was really very good.  Being completely filled up we opted not to get dessert, I just had another beer.

Overall I think Hooter's is a great place.  They have a business model that seems to be working and hasn't changed over the last 14 years.  Women seems to enjoy the atmosphere and it is great for groups.  There were families, groups, and lonely guys.  All seemed to be having a good time.  The food was amazing and is a step above normal bar food.

Patty's Closet Outfit of the Week

A girly dress is one of my favorite things to wear, especially in white. As soon as the girls at PC showed me this one, I knew it was the outfit for this week. It can easily be dressed up or down. I wore it to a party during the day and put a denim vest over it to dress it down and for dinner last night just removed the vest. The detailing on the front of the dress in silver really adds that extra glam. The top is mesh and low cut, but you can put a bandeau from PC like I did to make it a little more conservative. Week 102 Roberto's Taco Shop

Hi Everyone, yes, we are back. With a few weeks of traveling around the USA, Brett switching shifts, and exciting life events, we have been go, go, go. We have reviews to write because we have been going on blog dates, but we haven't gotten to post until now. Thanks for sticking with us.

What Teray Says...

When it comes to a busy week there is nothing like take out which will allow us to enjoy the weekend together away from the busy places and just relax. This particular week was one of those and the scorching temps were the icing on the cake, I just didn't feel like going out. On all the tv shows I had watched that day everyone was eating Mexican for some reason. When I think of amazing Mexican and take out, I think Roberto's Taco Shop.

Luckily, we live by a Roberto's and it is only a couple of streets up. I decided to order the two tacos combination with rice and beans. I personally feel like anything you get there is always pretty good. When we do Roberto's take out, I normally eat half and then save half, this time wasn't an exception. I did the same. 

I know some people think and just by seeing the picture that this is messy slop. Yes, it is messy, but it is truly perfect if you are in the mood for a cheat meal and something so crappy for you. I wish these meals had no calories because I would eat them more often. Next time we go back there, I will definitely order the same thing though because it was delicious, broken into two meals and under $7.00, you just can't go wrong. On that note, I still prefer a Chipotle, Qdoba, or Baja Fresh over here. You have to be in the mood for junk. 

Overall, this review is short and sweet, but we did do take out. I rate Roberto's 3.5 out of 5 for take out Mexican food. 

What Brett Says...

Once again Teray and I are super busy and it doesn't even seem as though we have time to sit down at a restaurant and eat a meal.  It's times like these we resort to take out, usually a hit or miss.  This week we decided to let you all know what we thought of "Roberto's."  We have gotten a few small things here in the past, we have even stopped by late night.  But this was our first time getting in completely sober and during normal hours.

This will be fairly quick since it was take out.  Before I get into what I ordered you should all known that they have a salsa and kind of a salad bar; spicy carrots, onions, and peppers.  This is one aspect of Roberto's that I really like, I filled  couple bags, I personally love the carrots.  I ordered the beef burrito and beef enchilada plate.  Having worked at a Mexican restaurant I am pretty tough on Mexican food.  I personally don't like the rice and beans, they are pretty bland and aren't even warm.  Considering we live 2 minutes from Roberto's I know it isn't that we waited to long to eat.  The enchilada was awesome but the burrito was decent.  I'm not a fan of burritos loaded with sauce, plus it was difficult to cut and eat.  I ended up just turning it into a burrito salad type thing.  

Overall I think I am going to stick to Roberto's when I am drunk, sober I might go for their quesadilla or nachos.  I just can't imagine eating this sober again.

Week 101 The Mad Greek Cafe

I cannot believe this is post 101. I know, I know, we have been a little bit behind on this blog, but I promise we will pump them out soon and get back on track now that Brett has a new schedule and I am on summer break, thank goodness.

What Teray Says...

So for some reason, I think it is because I saw someone eating it on tv, I was really craving Greek food. Brett and I have been to a lot of the Greek restaurants in the area, but on my way to tutoring, I always drive past The Mad Greek Cafe and decided that is where we would go. 

Mad Greek Cafe is totally up my ally. It is exaggerated Greek themed with lights and fake garden outside. I loved the atmosphere immediately. We sat outside because it was a gorgeous night. I am glad we did because although the people inside looked like they were having so much fun, the music was a little loud for me. 

We were seated right away and our service got off to the right track, but kind of went down hill from there. We started with hummus and pita as well as grape leaves. Both of them were some of the best that I have ever had. If you are a follower of this blog, you know that Khoury's is my favorite Greek restaurant, and these were on par with their food. If you go there, definitely get these as appetizers. 

We got our appetizers in a fair amount of time. We ordered our dinner shortly after, but then it went down hill from there. Brett and I both got a gyro. I ordered mine as the meal with rice and salad and Brett asked for the sandwich version so he could get some spinach pie type thing with his as well. Well, not only did he not end up getting the right thing, it took over an hour to get our dinner. This is why the appetizers were so important, because if they weren't somewhat filling,  I would have passed out from hunger. 

Once the food did arrive, it was delicious, and the portion was huge, enough that I brought some home and ate it the next day for lunch. I think I would have enjoyed it more though if it didn't take so long; I was kind of irritated by then. We thought we should order our dessert as soon as the food came out so we wouldn't have to wait forever for that too. We both picked baklava, which of course was absolutely delightful and a good way to close out this crazy meal. We were at the restaurant for hours; not that we cared, but we went later as it was so we were both exhausted by the end. 

Overall, I enjoyed Mad Greek Cafe, but was not happy the service took so long. The food was delicious though. If you want to make a night of it, this place is for you. I rate Mad Greek Cafe 3 out 5. 

What Brett Says...

The entire week Teray was talking about getting some Greek food, so by the time the weekend came around I was craving it too.  We decided to check out "Mad Greek Cafe" on Durango near Sahara.  OPA!

Well they are definitely different then most restaurants when it came to the environment of the place.  The have a decent size patio that is completely surrounded with plant life, the city is completely cut off from intruding on your dining experience. They have speakers so you can enjoy the indoor entertainment (the speakers sound horrible most of the time).  As for seating, you either luck out and get a table that will allow you to be comfortable or you end up at something that has a flat surface and be uncomfortable.  The inside is a pretty simple set up; chairs and tables.  They also had a stage with live music and belly dancers.  I'm not sure how great the music was because of the speakers.  I will say indoors and out everyone seemed to be really into the experience of the restaurant.  If you do sit outside just know that everyone around you will be a smoker and depending on the breeze you may end up in the cross hairs.

Onto the service.  Everyone we encountered was very friendly and seemed to not hate being there.  The level of respect given to the customers was out of this world.  Unfortunately as far as the service it was shaky.  While our drinks seemed to be well taken care of getting food was a different story.  I didn't get what I ordered (two weeks in a row now) and it took close to an hour to get our entree. We did get told repeatedly that it was almost done, neither of us ordered anything that should take more then 5 minutes.  There also seemed to be an issue with staff dropping glass in the patio, it happened multiple times throughout out meal.

I'll start this section by saying the food we ate was delicious.  We started off with hummus and pita, every Greek restaurant should have this down pretty good.  We also had an order of grape leaves that was small but the flavor was good.  I ordered the gyro sandwich and got the gyro plate.  I just wanted to eat a wrap and make my life easy, unfortunately I got a plate that was much larger, required me to work, and cost a couple dollars more...no biggie but it still wasn't what I ordered.  The plate was very good though.  I also ordered their spinach pies, every place has their own version.  Theirs are several smaller pieces but it was amazing.  For dessert we ordered baklava...thankfully it was awesome and we were able to end the meal on a high note.

Overall I'm not entirely sure how to feel about Mad Greek Cafe.  Every aspect except the food had its weak points and high points.  I think we need to go again to see if all this is normal.  Unfortunately I only have this experience to go off of.

PS: We ended up next to two very annoying people who kept trying to sound intellectual to each other but failed miserably.  At one point they were making fun of pretentious people while they themselves were being pretentious.

Week 98 The Lodge on Ft. Apache

We're back. We may have been gone for a few weeks but that doesn't mean we don't have restaurants to blog about. Blame it on the never ending days that we both have. We are just happy to be back blogging with you guys.

What Teray Says...

So this week I continued my journey on the Paleo diet, which I am still doing I must add, so I was craving bar food so bad. Brett and I decided we might as well just drive a few minutes and head to The Lodge on Ft. Apache. Inferno Pilates is in that plaza so I always drive by it every day.

We sat in the table section to be away from the smoke. Our waitress greeted us right away and was very friendly. I was craving a flavored vodka drink with club soda so she suggested Fruit Loop vodka. That drink was amazing, I only had and needed one to be giggly. Brett got beer. 

For an appetizer we chose cheese chicken quesadillas. The portion size was big and they were bar food greasy amazingness. Yes, I know that is not a real word, but I don't care. For our dinner I ordered a pastrami burger and Brett ordered a burger that had egg on it. Both were huge and delicious. I was so excited about the fries because I hadn't had them in over a month, that I ate everything on the plate. 

As for dessert, we had our waitress surprise us and she brought us a huge sundae, which again we ate all of it. Brett tried to tell the waitress that I ate all of it, which was just not true. Oh, and to say that we left their full was an understatement. We were stuffed! The Lodge definitely satisfied the bar food craving I was having for my cheat meal, because of service and food I rate them a 5 out of 5. 

What Brett Says...

This may come as a surprise to all of you but Teray likes to dress up and look her best, I know quite the shocker.  I however am the complete opposite, I could lead a very happy life (and try to) in basketball shorts and a tshirt.  I am all about comfort and relaxation, so when the opportunity arises to go out to eat somewhere that it would be acceptable to wear sweats and a tshirt I am all for it.  I have to sneak these places in when Teray is both starving and exhausted...this week I did it, we went to "The Lodge" at Fort Apache and Russell.  

There are a couple of them throughout town and from what I have seen having drinks at a few of them they all share the same theme, kind of a hunter's cabin meets Las Vegas.  They have the split dining room and bar set up with the glass divider and video poker at the bar.  The atmosphere is outdoorsy and looks like you are in the greatest bachelor pad cabin out there.  There is a fully stocked bar, big screen televisions, and beers on tap.  It is a pretty comfortable local spot that gives you a different feel then most cookie cutter Vegas bars.  The service was also good, it wasn't amazing but then again we were at a local bar.  All of our needs were met; I never had to wait for another beer and our food came out quick.  Nothing was screwed up...that's what really matters in the end.  It also helps that we were one of maybe two tables.

Dinner for me started with a large draft beer, decided on a Fat Tire because they were out of their advertised beer.  After a long work week it was great, something about starting your weekend with an ice cold draft.  Once the beer was flowing we decided to get the food rolling with a quesadilla, considering it is hard to screw up tortilla and cheese it was good.  Being at a bar I decided to go big with an amazing burger.  Let me tell you, it worked.  Sometimes you need a burger and when you really need a burger it can be scary because there is always a chance that burger sucks.  This burger did not suck at all, I kind of want to go get one right now.  To round it all out we got an ice cream sundae, turns out it was made for a group party because it was huge.  They did not skimp on any aspect of the meal.

Overall I think "The Lodge" is a great place to go and relax while having some drinks and food.  I would be quite happy going here for a drink or ten, not sure how they would actually feel about me getting that much booze in me but I can promise you I would enjoy it.  Another nice thing is that it wasn't very busy, I am over going to bars on a random night and having it be packed.  Probably not the greatest place for a first date or an anniversary but every other reason would work out well.

Week 96 Due Forni

Hi Everyone, welcome back. As I mentioned last blog, we are publishing three this week to catch you up on all the places we have been the past couple of weeks. When life gets busy, as it always is, sometimes times to sit down and write slips away from us, now it is time to catch up.

What Teray Says...

So week two of the 30 Day Hot Pilates Challenge I was really craving eating something that wasn't Paleo. It was my cheat meal after all so I figured, where could I get all the things I am missing so much (cheese and bread), and an Italian restaurant came to mind. I have been recommended Due Forni since last summer, but for some reason, we had never been there yet. It wasn't until a few weeks ago when I was driving home from tutoring that I noticed it on the right hand side of Town Center Drive and it rang a bell, we needed to visit there this week. 

As I mentioned Due Forni is located on Town Center Drive and 215 next to the Coffee Bean. There is an outdoor eating area as well as an indoor. Upon entering we were greeted and asked our name which the people at the door remembered all night (impressive!). We were seated right away and our server came over and went over items on the menu with us because it was our first time. He made suggestions and we went with them. 

For an appetizer we ordered the Carpaccio which was thin sliced prime beef, arugula, pine nuts, parmesan, cremini mushrooms, black true vinaigrette. It was one of the items our waiter suggested, so we went with it. Well, I am glad that we did. The portion size was amazing (we each got two big pieces), the presentation was beautiful (it looked like sushi) and the taste was out of this world, by far one of the best appetizers I have ever had at an Italian restaurant. 

For dinner we ordered from the mozzerella bar in which you can choose from three types of mozzerella: classica (delicate) • aumicata (smoked) • stracciatella (soft and creamy). We paired the stracciatella with artichoke. This option also comes with many pieces of some of the best bread you will ever have. The cheese was literally melting in my mouth. Speaking of the cheese, they import it from Italy. Yea, amazing right?! 

We also ordered a pizza for dinner; there are many options for pizza but we went with the QUATTRO FORMAGGI which was like a white pizza with extra pizazz. I was in love when I took the first bite. Now you could be thinking I found this all so good because it was my cheat meal of the week. Wrong, I know pizza and this pizza was amazing, by far some of the best I have had not only in Vegas, but in my life. 

Brett and I also had to order dessert. We needed to have the full experience; I didn't want anything too sweet being I had a Hummingbird to drink (if you go there you must have this drink). We had the sweet bufala ricotta which was that honey, pistachios, and sugar. Again, out of this world. I probably could eat that dessert for the rest of my life. 

Now, let me talk about the service, probably by far some of the best we have had while doing this blog and as you can see at the top, we are at week 96. From the person who greeted us at the door, the wait staff and the manager, who by the way is from NY and came over and explained the whole experience to us, it really made us feel welcome. I was beyond impressed. 

Without a doubt I will going back to Due Forni as soon as possible; from the looks of it, they have an amazing happy hour menu too. Speaking of happy hour, the wine list and drink list are very long, so there is something for everyone in every price range. Due Forni gets a 5 out of 5 and now falls in my top 5 from this blog. 

What Brett Says...

This week we had absolutely no idea what we were in the mood for.  We all have those times where nothing sounds good and you just want someone else to pick...unfortunately we both were in that mood.  I threw out Italian and Teray decided we should try a place others have recommended, we went to "Due Forni."  They are at Town Center and the 215, an area we never go to for some reason.

The feel and atmosphere are amazing but a complete contradiction, which really works for them.  It feels almost like fine dining, at first I felt underdressed, but then you realize it is laid back.  They have an extensive wine selection, fine dining tables, and intimate lighting.  On the flip side the place mats are the menus, the servers wear jeans, and the big draw is pizza.  This has to be one of the cooler places we have been to, it works no matter the occasion or the lack of.  They also have a nice outdoor patio.

The service was also another area that made an impression.  Everyone we dealt with was amazing, they were as professional and acted as though it was a 5 star fine dining restaurant.  Out server was extremely helpful and walked us through the entire menu and made quite a few recommendations, which we followed.  The manager also came by the table a couple times to check on us, he told us about the concept behind the entire restaurant.  Everyone seemed to really enjoy working there and it rubbed off on the customers.

Now for the food.  We all love pizza, Italian, and cheese.  That being said how did Due Forni do?  To start things off our server suggested the carpaccio; the presentation alone won me over.  Then I decided to taste it and was hooked, I was hoping Teray wouldn't like it just so I could have more.  Since the appetizer was so good we decided to go with another suggestion from our server.  They have a mozzarella bar that allows you to choose from a selection of mozzarellas and sides.  We went with the stracciatella (soft and creamy) with marinated roman artichokes.  I am not a huge mozzarella connoisseur, Teray is Italian so she is a little more well versed.  I did enjoy they selection, it went well with the meal and wasn't heavy.  Our next selection was a pizza, kinda have to at a pizza place.  We decided on the quattro formagi pizza, Roman style with a gluten free dough...translated: mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, fontina fontal (4 types of cheese) on a thin crust.  The gluten free was just to see how a gluten free pizza would work out (surprisingly normal).  This pizza was legit.  I'm talking Tony Soprano in Little Italy NYC legit.  Since we were 3 for 3 on ordering we wanted to see what dessert was all about.  We got a ricotta pistachio ice cream, once again it was a knock out.  Every aspect of the dishes were perfected.  I would love to see what the other dishes taste like.

I think it goes without say but this place is the shit.  Every aspect has been perfected and implemented.  I cannot think of a single thing to complain about.  I recommend Due Forni for dates, groups, whatever.  Just go and enjoy.

Theemerald color really stands out and can be worn with many different color accessories. The back is racer back, so in the warm weather you can show a little more skin. You can dress this up or down. I wore it during the day with casual flats and a cardigan and then at night with some heels. You can find this look at the

Week 33 Wok On In Mongolian BBQ

What Teray Says...

This week Brett chose to go to Wok On In Mongolian BBQ. The main reasoning for him choosing this is because there was a great deal on Groupon, which we love, but also because I have never had Mongolian BBQ. Until I heard what it was from Brett I had thought in my mind that it was animals in which I personally would not like to eat, which is not true at all!!

Wok On In Mongolian BBQ is located right by UNLV. The place is a lot bigger than I would have expected. Wok On In has booths and tables and it is one big room. To order your food you go up to the counter and choose your meats, vegetables, noodles, rice, etc. They then cook it on a big grill right in front of you. 

The portion sizes here are huge. I had steak, noodles, rice, peppers, tofu, zucchini, onions, carrots, I could go on and on. Brett will probably remember everything that went into this monstrous amount of food. I could only finish about half of it, if that and was so full. Everything was so fresh and delicious though. I would love to try it again but with a different meat.

As for the service, the lady who must either be the owner or the manager is an adorable older woman who was saying it was her first time with Groupon. Because of her personality and engagement with the customers, I would recommend going there on just that! I also read that they have breakfast, so I would really like to try that. Overall, I rate Wok On It for the amount of food and the personable service 4 out 5. 


What Brett Says...


So buying a house sets you back, well not the actual house but the wife in a new house sets you back.  That being the situation I am currently in I found this week's restaurant on Groupon, this week we went to "Wok On In" which is a Mongolian BBQ.  For some reason Mongolian BBQ isn't as big in Vegas as it was in Michigan; it is a build your own sautee place.  You choose what veggies you want, what meat you want, the sauce, and whatever else you want it cooked with.  Then the cook tosses it all on a giant circle flat top grill and does it up.  In Michigan you do everything yourself (except cook it) and it is all you can eat.  At "Wok On In" it is more of a "Subway" setup; you tell them what you want and they get it for you.  


I am confused as to what the place is, the sign out front seems to have 5 different layers and you can see each business.  There also seems to be different areas on the inside, the Mongolian BBQ part is to the right.  The dining room is a good size and it is close to the UNLV campus...my guess is it is aiming for the college crowd, if I went to UNLV I would probably eat there multiple times per week.  There is nothing special about the physical setup of the business.  It could easily serve the purpose of any food industry business, I think they actually have other business' in there throughout the day.  The most important part of a hole in the wall college area restaurant is cleanliness, they accomplish this.  The other important part is some kind of personality; whether it be the atmosphere or the employees.  As I said before there is nothing special about the actual building.  But the owner, a very nice older foreign lady, was amazing.  Apparently there was a mistake with Groupon and she took the time to explain the mistake, she talked to us for a little bit about Groupon and how we like the online deals.  She took a while and educated us on the whole Mongolian BBQ process, she really did make it an enjoyable meal.  There was nothing formal or classy about this place but is was a very comfortable experience and the service was out of the park.


Obviously I need to touch on the food, this is actually an easy task this week.  You step up to a window (like at Subway) and choose all the ingredients you want- veggies, toppings, meats, sauces, rice, noodles, and who knows what else.  I pretty much went through and chose every vegetable possible threw in some steak and they polished it off with teriyaki sauce and BBQ sauce.  Once it was all piled on the cook threw it on the grill, we grabbed a seat and waited.  A couple minutes later our food was brought to us, I am honestly surprised each plate didn't take two hands to carry.  The amount of food we ended up getting was ridiculous, I could have easily portioned it up into 3 servings...each.  The food was awesome, it tasted like what I would cook up if I had a kitchen filled with prepped food.  There other nice part is if you are smart it can completely be a healthy meal...because you choose the ingredients.  I think if this was next to a LVAC


I think I did a pretty good above so this week you do not get a summary.  Just can't believe we got all that for less then $20.

Patty's Closet Outfit of the Week
Thank you to Patty and Juan of Patty's Closet for providing me with my outfit of the week this week! This top is perfect for going out. It is a flowing, lightweight fabric for spring ♥ The top comes with the belt and has silver rhinestones all over the front. This top can be worn for all seasons because of the color. It also brings attention to your shoulders with rhinestones on those, which my hair is covering, so you can't see them. On the hanger you may think it is boxy with the ruffles, but it is actually really flattering because the belt cinches your waist. This top is available at the Rainbow location. 


On a side note, I wore this top to work this week. To make it work appropriate all that I did was add a quarter sleeved scooped neck black shirt underneath and paired it with straight leg jeans rather than jeggings. :)

What Teray Says...
This week we had the pleasure of going to Coconuts Beach Bar and Mexican Grill. It is a new restaurant that opened in Town Square where Lolita's used to be. Brett found a Groupon about a week and a half ago, which consisted of two specialty drinks, one appetizer, two meals, and one dessert for $35. Talk about a steal!


When  you walk into Coconuts you know off the bat it is going to be a fun place. It is decorated in a beachy theme, and is actually a really big place. I didn't realize how big this place actually was. There are high rise tables by the bar, a dance floor in the middle, and then booths which are set up around the dance floor, like you are VIP style. There is also another area of tables and booths farther back. There is also a big bus in the middle which is the dj station, and beer pong on college nights in the back. It is just a fun vibe all around.

We were greeted and seated right away by the friendly staff. We started off with some drinks, there are so many choices. I feel like I may go there one day and just try about 3 or 4 of them and need a cab ride home, but this was not my goal for the evening. ;) Brett decided to order a coconut mojito and I ordered a bloody maria (which we all know bloody mary is my favorite- this is just the same with tequila, so it is actually wayyy better). My mouth is actually watering for it as I type this. I took one sip of Brett's and it was delightful; if I wasn't afraid of mixing sweet and spicy, I would have had that too, but we will be back again soon, so I can order it then.

The service here is spot on. Our waitress was extremely on top of everything and we never felt like we were waiting or wondering where she was. (If you read our reviews weekly, you know that good service is not something we get a lot of). For our appetizer we decided to order guacamole. The chips were the best chips I have ever had, that we even refilled our bowl and ate more. The guacamole is very fresh and it comes with three types of salsa; I wanted to eat more, but I didn't want to be too full for my meal. Again, best guacamole hands down that I have ever had. 

For our meal I ordered the shrimp fajitas and Brett ordered marinated skirt steak. I can speak for my fajitas and just say, "wow." It came with nice big pieces of shrimp, which I gave Brett some, rice, beans, 3 wraps, and grilled veggies. The cool thing is that you get to pick your sides, so I picked spanish rice and pinto beans. I wanted to stay with the theme. I was able to eat two fajitas and then got full, so like every week, I took the rest home and Brett ate it for lunch the next day. Brett will talk more about his skirt steak, but I took a bite and it was so tender. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Next, we got to choose a dessert. We went with our waitress's suggestion of the coconut cheese cake. Well, while in the mix of things, we were told that we got a free dessert because I had tweeted Coconuts earlier in the day! How awesome is that?! For our second dessert we picked the fire and ice which is Habanero caramel served over vanilla ice cream. We chose this because the waitress said that no one has ever ordered it. Brett said that she had to try it at the table. LOL. Well, because I am blonde, and sheltered, and live under a rock, and many other reasons... I did not know what habanero was. I thought it was just some fancy spanish word for caramel. Little did I know it is a spicy pepper! The first bite kind of tingles your whole mouth, but second bite it, it is awesomely delicious. Both dessert were fantastic.

Overall, my experience at Coconuts was fabulous, not only was the food some of the best Mexican food I have had in Vegas, the drinks were a-mazing, and the atmosphere was fun! The service was like a said before top notch. You know the service is good at a place when you have servers from other tables checking on your table. Everyone was very pleasant and so friendly. I am definitely planning our next adventure back and rate Coconuts 5 out of 5. You must go there!!!! What Brett Says...


This week we went where Groupon took us again, "Coconuts" is in Town Square on the second floor across from Rave.  A couple weeks ago Groupon had a deal; $35 for an appetizer, 2 specialty drinks, 2 entrees, and a dessert.  Even if the food was terrible it still would have been a good deal.  Lucky for us things worked out better.

We figured we should get to Coconuts soon considering it is in a spot that seems to be a business killer.  I think they are the third or fourth business in that spot in less then four years.  Teray had heard about them and was excited to go, I on the other hand am so far out of the loop since I left the industry that I didn't even know it was there as I was walking through the door.  But that's no surprise since Teray knows about everything before it becomes something.  The inside is kinda what you would expect from the frat house in the movie Animal House if they had gone to school in California...allow me to expand.  There is a VW bus as a DJ booth, tons of colors everywhere, a dance floor, alcohol, and girls in bikinis.  Ladies, I know you are thinking how degrading it must be to work where bikinis are the uniform let alone eat there, well they class it up a bit with white tank tops and jean shorts.  For the guys, don't worry the tank tops are tiny and low cut and the jean shorts are tiny and high cut.  But I was with my beautiful wife so I didn't notice any of that, I actually heard about it from a guy who notices that kind of stuff.  Aside from the waitress' the place is pretty cool, you definitely get the whole beach vibe.  They have video streaming from past nights and from what I could tell they have a pretty lively nightlife.  The manager was telling us that they do college night and work with a couple fraternities.  Considering Cadillac Ranch is no longer I think they are getting some business from them, except it is college kids instead of well you know...trash.  Not to mention every once in a while we need to act like we are in college for a night so we can regret it for three days.  

The service was good, December has already brought us luck in this department.  They weren't that busy so I can't speak to what it would be like at other times.  We were greeted at the door by multiple employees and sat immediately.  Our waitress was friendly, and they do that whole "Joe's Crabshack" thing where they grab a chair and sit with you when they take your order.  She was on top of things, which we haven't had lately.  Everything we ordered came out quick, she had suggestions when we needed them, and we didn't have to ask to order.  One thing that really stood out when we were there was that other waitress' took care of us too; if someone saw that we had empty plates or needed refills it just happened, we didn't have to wait till our waitress came by.  We had a manager and who I think was the owner come by, it was nice being acknowledged and thanked for coming in.  They weren't that busy and they are new, that is exactly what should be happening with management.  From my personal experience working everywhere I have customers seem to do better and come out happier when someone stops by and thanks them for coming in that isn't getting the tip.  We also ordered a dessert that our waitress said she had never had, we told her she would have to try it if we ordered...she did.  Everyone we encountered was fun and laid back, they (the staff and restaurant) aren't trying to be what they aren't.  How many times have you been somewhere that reminds you of a guy wearing a tux at a BBQ?  They know what they are shooting for, stick to it, and accomplish it.

Of course I have to touch on the food, beings it is a restaurant review and all.  Like I said earlier we went with the prix fixe Groupon, so we got a ton of food and it was cheap.  Looking at the menu it didn't look like it would be all that much without a Groupon...we plan on going back without the Groupon.  We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer; you get a basket of tortilla chips, 3 salsas, and a huge bowl of guac.  We had so much guac that we had to order a second basket of chips.  We also got to order some specialty drinks, I went with a coconut mojito and Teray went with a bloody mary margarita (Bloody Maria).  Both drinks were good, mine specifically was amazing, it was the kind of drink you want to wake up to and keep drinking all day.  Who knows I may just do it someday, just hope you aren't the one I call to come drive me home.  For our entrees I ordered the skirt steak and Teray ordered shrimp fajitas.  Since I ate all of mine and half of hers I can attest to both that they were also amazing.  You get a huge plate of food; they don't skimp on anything...you get meat (whatever you choose), two sides, and tortillas.  If you are someone that doesn't go for overindulgence there is easily enough for a meal and a take home snack.  We also got a dessert as part of our deal, we went with coconut cheesecake.  Yeah you guessed it...amazing.  It was more like a coconut cheesecake mousse, Teray even asked if she could have a big one for her birthday cake.  Then the manager surprised us and said that since Teray tweeted about them (still no way I will ever have a Twitter) we got a free dessert.  So for dessert #2 we went with Habenero caramel ice cream, this was the one we made our waitress try.  It is definitely something you have to take more then one bite of, the first bite hits you and by the third you are wanting more.  I'm not a fan of spicy but for some reason this works.  It isn't something I would get everytime but for a first time or just to give it a shot you won't be disappointed. 

So to sum things up...it was amazing, we will go back, and it kinda makes me miss my frat boy days.

Patty's Closet Outfit of the Week

Hi fashion lovers! I hope your are all enjoying the transition into winter clothes and Christmas shopping away (especially at one of the 6 Patty's Closet stores here in Vegas). Anyway, of course thank you to Patty and Juan of Patty's Closet for providing me with my outfit of the week this week. When I was searching for what to find, I wanted some color, because in the winter I tend to stick to the blacks, browns, and greys. The blue was a perfect way to change it up. Patty also helped me pick out the fabulous accessories to this outfit (the necklace and legging tights). She has the perfect eye to make any outfit complete!

This outfit of the week provided by Patty's Closet Fashion Boutique is one of my favorite looks, the mini dress. I love a mini dress because in the summer you can wear it with bare legs and in the fall you can make it so cool with leggings or tights. Never too much exposed :) The blue is such a rich color and the sleeves flare out at the end. The tights are a thick material that are like leggings and are footless. The neckalce is a gun metal and silver statement piece. This whole look is available at the Rainbow location. Love it!
