Week 55 Slice of Vegas Pizza

What Teray Says...

This week we chose to go to Slice of Vegas because quite honestly, they had a great Groupon deal and I was craving pizza. Slice is located within the shops at Mandalay Place. It was cool to go down to the strip because we mainly try to avoid there on week-ends, but it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded which was awesome. 

We were seated and greeted right away. Our waiter was very friendly going over everything and not pushy at all. He let us take our time and take everything in. To drink, I decided to go with the special that night which was a Fruit loop Margarita and let me tell you, not only am I a marg. fan, but the fact that it tasted exactly like Fruit Loops was amazing. Instead of the rim of the cup being outlined with salt, it was outlined with sugar too, which made it extra sweet, but not the overwhelming sweet where you get a total stomach ache from sugar rush. 

As for our food we started with the appetizer of "Not Your Momma's Garlic Bread." This consisted of Italian, garlic bread with pesto on top. It also came with a roasted garlic head to spread which was amazing. This had to be one of the best garlic breads that I have ever had, and being from Jersey, we all know I have had and made amazing garlic bread. 

For our pizza we ordered 12 inch, Miles 10 Meat. This pizza according to the menu is, "Made with a bolognese mix of veal, pork, and ground beef, smothered in mozzarella cheese, and topped with prosciutto, pepperoni, pancetta, sausage, bacon, mortadella and cappacola." This pizza was extremely fresh and the combinations of meat made it very filling. Again, one of the best combos on a pizza that I have had in Vegas. It was a thinner pizza, which I like, and there wasn't a ridiculous amount of sauce like a lot of pizzas. It was pretty perfect if you ask me. 

Brett seems to be on a kick lately that when we go out we order more than one dessert. I went with it because I always love desserts at an Italian food place. We of course had to get my favorite, which is a cannoli and then we got the sack of dough balls, which is zeppoles. Amazing!!! The are perfect size to share with someone. We finished both of course because they were delicious. 

Overall, I LOVED Slice of Vegas. It is way better than most of the pizza places in Vegas and the atmosphere and staff make it a fun place to go. Based on the food, service, and restaurant itself, I rate Slice 5 out of 5 and definitely will return to try other items besides pizza. 

What Brett Says...


One of the most valuable places to have knowledge of is a good pizza place.  Look at all the arguments about NY vs. Chicago, thin crust vs. deep dish, toppings on top vs. toppings under the cheese.  Everyone has their preference and the combinations are endless.  Then there are people like me that have no set pizza type.  I grew up in Michigan where Little Caesars was the go to pizza joint and I am still happy getting a $5 large.  Now that I am with Teray our biggest argument over pizza is the terminology regarding a specific pizza.  What do you call a pizza that only has dough, sauce, and cheese?  I personally call it a "cheese" pizza and Teray calls it a "plain" pizza...feel free to weigh in.  Regardless of type, style, toppings, and terminology it is important to find a place that makes a good pie.  This week we ventured out to see if we could find another place to get a decent pie.  We decided to give "Slice" at Mandalay Bay a try.  We decided to give it a shot thanks to Grouping and their $15 for $30 worth of food.
"Slice" is in the shopping area at Mandalay, it is open air to the hallway of the mall.  It is actually kinds fun being a local and watching all the tourists wander around and act like they are in Vegas...the woo girls, the cool guys, the older women that act like they still have it, and my favorite the fanny packers.  You get free entertainment with your meal.  The place itself is pretty cool, think 50's diner meets local Vegas bar.  They also have random games to play at your table, including Rock Em Sock Em boxing...unfortunately it was taken so I didn't get to beat up Teray.  The service was also very good.  Our server was "Bear," you read that right.  He was actually pretty cool and made the visit better.  He was on top of things; whether it was refills, food suggestions, answering questions, or keeping us updated on our food.  Plus his name is Bear which is cool in itself. 
The food was on point.  They have a pretty extensive menu considering they are called Slice.  We started with some garlic bread..."Not yo mama's" to be exact.  This was some of the best I have had, they even give you an entire roasted garlic to use as a.spread.  If you get this and you are on a date make sure you both eat it...otherwise there will be no making out later in the night.  Teray also ordered a "Fruit loop margarita."  I was a little skeptical since I don't see the whole fruit loop mixed with tequila and margarita mix actually tasting good.  I was definitely Provence wrong, this drink was amazing and I will be making them at home now.  As for the pizza.  We decided to order the "Miles 10 Meat" pizza.  They bring it out in true pizza place fashion and put it on top of a can at your table.  We got the 12" which was plenty for two people.  This was a fairly legit pie, I can't say it was the best I have had but it may be a honorable mention.  I will say they did load it up pretty good with meat.  To wrap up the meal we had trouble deciding which dessert to get, they have a bunch that sounded good.  Not wanting to pick the wrong one we opted to choose two.  We ordered the Zeppoles and the Cannoli.  Zeppoles are deep fried balls of dough dusted in powder sugar.  If you don't know what a cannoli is I feel sorry for you, I would also encourage you to set the blot down and proceed directly to a bakery that had them.  As for the desserts we ordered...they were amazing.  I have had my fair share of zeppolis and cannolis and will say that these were high up on the list.  And ladies, before you talk about carbs and calories stop...you just ate garlic bread and pizza, health went out the window about 30-45min ago.  Just do it.
Overall I was impressed with Slice.  I probably won't frequent them too often considering they are priced for tourists and not locals.  I can't complain about price, I knew what we were getting into.  If I was a tourist I wouldn't complain though.  They did everything right, maybe get some more rock em sock em's but that's about it.  If you go enjoy and have Bear be your server.

Patty's Closet Outfit of the Week

This crop top is the perfect mix of classic stripes with this summer's trend, which is the neon trim. It is perfect too gals because you can totally wear a strapless bra if you need to. Week 52 Round Table Pizza

Hi food and fashion lovers. Yes, we know this is week 52, but we have so many requests to continue the blog and we are really getting a lot of hits, so we are going to keep blogging for now about Vegas restaurants. :)

What Teray Says...

So this week Brett and I had a Groupon for Round Table Pizza. It was $12 for $25 worth of food. Pretty good deal. We decided that we could order the pizzas and then eat them back at our house, because part of Vegas restaurants are take out, and we haven't ventured into that market yet. 

Round Table Pizza has a few locations. The closest one to our new house is in Summerlin in the Village Square Plaza on Sahara and Ft. Apache. You enter RTP and it is definitely family friendly because it has arcade games and such. It reminds me of Pizza Hut back home when Pizza Hut was an actual restaurant you could eat at. 

Looking at the menu, I was happy we had a Groupon, because it seemed a little pricey without it for pizza. They do have a variety of gourmet pizzas which is cool, so we ordered three individual pizzas (6inches). Brett chose a Maui Zaui pizza which was pineapples, bacon, ham, onions and tomatoes. Our friend Tommy who was also eating with us chose the Ulti-Meat which was pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and linguica. I chose Montague's All Meat Marvel which was sausage, pepperoni, salami, and linguica. 

We also ordered a side of Garlic Parmigiana Twists, six twists come in an order.

I can only speak for the pizza I ordered and Brett's because we traded on slice with each other. My meat pizza was delicious. The personal size pizza is just enough for one person, not too much, but not too little either. The crust was extra crispy which is my favorite and it is not overloaded with sauce and the cheese doesn't taste fake like some other chain pizza places. Brett's pizza was definitely different; I am not a fan of fruit on pizza, but I liked it. Not something I would order myself, but again, it was good to taste. The garlic twists were incredible, but I am obsessed with garlic, so I knew I would like them no matter what.

Overall, I would rate Round Table Pizza 2.5 out of 5 for take out food. I am doing the rating based on take out, not actually eating in the restaurant, because we didn't do that. I would order from there again, and of course with a coupon. 

What Brett Says...

Gonna be kinda short and kinda sweet.  This week we decided to do the whole take out thing, sometimes life is too hectic to sit down and sometimes you just want to eat in the comfort of your own home.  This week was a mix of the two but we also wanted to invite a family friend of mine over to finally see our house.  A while back I bought a Groupon for "Roundtable Pizza," $12 towards $25.  Decided to give it a go, pizza never fails.  

When I bought the Groupon I assumed...dumbass...that $25 on pizza was a lot.  Little Caesars would give me 5 larges for that, others you could still get a decent amount.  At Roundtable they like to work under the assumption that people do not like their money and they will happily give it away.  After looking at the menu online we decided to just order garlic bread and 3 personal pizzas.  Just to give you an idea...that came out to $33 without the Groupon.  Something I would never pay for what little we got, I was happier with the $18 it cost me.  For the kind of money they charge I expect a sit down, I'm talking California Pizza Kitchen or a legit gourmet pizza shop.

As for the food.  I can't complain about the quality, I order the "Maui Zaui" with their special sauce.  I ordered it to get me ready for our trip to Hawaii.  It was a good pizza, the flavor worked, the special sauce was different.  The biggest complaint, besides price, is how little you get.  I would compare the personal pizza to maybe 1.5 slices of even a Little Caesars pizza.  From what I saw of their sizing chart, they are one size behind every other place; ie if you want what you think is a large you should order an extra large.  Like I said though, the pizza itself was delicious.  The garlic bread was also pretty good, nothing special though.  Teray and our friend Tommy also enjoyed their food as well.

The skinny...order more then you think you need, expect to pay twice as much as you would expect, and if you do order it will be good.  As for the total package they get 2.5 out of 5.

Patty's Closet Outfit of the Week

Check out my outfit of the week provided by Patty's Closet. Thanks to Patty and Juan for providing me with this look. :) I love a going out top that you can wear many different ways. This shirt is such a bold, fun spring color. The back has criss-crossed straps for added detail. I wore a shirt underneath because it was a little cold today, but in the summer, there will be no need. :) This top is so versatile, it definitely is worth the purchase. Week 19 "The Hidden Pizza Place" in the Cosmopolitan

What Teray Says...


This week's review is going to be short and sweet. Brett chose to go to the Hidden Pizza Place in the Cosmo because at First Friday (the night before) we got some free tickets to Smashing Pumpkins playing at the pool at the Cosmo, so we wanted to eat there, but at somewhere that was quick and casual. 


You would not know the pizza place is there if you are just walking around. I have been to the Cosmo a few times and walked by that space each time never even know it was a pizza place; I quite frankly thought it was an elevator. The pizza place is on the third floor right next to the sushi place. You go down a hallway that is lined with record covers and are faced with two arcade machines. 

There is a little counter that circles the restaurant with places to stand and sit. Thank goodness I stalked out a seat and Brett jumped to it, otherwise we would be standing the whole time. The place was packed! The menu is very small and there are not a lot of choices, but with pizza sometimes the originals are best. I was looking forward to ordering white pizza because not only is it my favorite, but I read so much about their white pizza online. When i got to the counter the man told me they were out of white pizza :( Brett and I were both disappointed and just ordered plain (which Brett calls cheese) and pepperoni slices. 

Brett ordered a PBR beer to drink and I just go soda, both which were served in a red solo cup. Overall for four slices and two drinks it was a little under $30, but being on the strip I am not surprised. The pizza was delicious and I can see why people were ordering pies. I definitely think it was worth the money, but it was almost as good as NJ pizza (which is the best in my opinion.) Overall, I am glad that we went there for the experience, but if you are a local, I suggest staying away on the week-ends, because like I said, the place was packed. I rate the "hidden pizza place" 4 out of 5 just because they were out a white pizza and when you have so little choices on your menu, it is not good to be out of one of the main ones.

What Brett Says...

So this week we went to a place with no name, no sign, and no real publicity.  You literally have to go find it.  It is the hidden pizza place at the Cosmo.  We chose to go here because we got some free tickets to Smashing Pumpkins the night before, they were playing the Cosmo so we figured we would knock out two birds with one stone.  As a side not: DO NOT bother going to see Smashing Pumpkins, it isn't the original band members and they pretty much suck now.  Anyways.  The hidden pizza place is on the 3rd floor and you just have to walk around until you find a long dark hallway with a bunch of record covers.

The review is going to be short because we went to a place that specializes in giving you pizza and that's about it.  There were a couple of pinball machines, a couple stools, and a kitchen.  This place is far from fancy, far from what you would expect from City Center.  It isn't a bad thing, it serves a purpose and meets that purpose.  The menu consists of pizza, dessert, and beer.  I opted for the pizza and beer.  I got two slices of pepperoni and a PBR draft.  The pizza was pretty good; I wish I was drunk and it was 4am on a Saturday night because that would have made it perfect pizza.  The slices were huge...NY style (sorry Teray it isn't NJ style).  The beer, well that was PBR...enough said.

All in all a great place to go before a club, before a concert, or when you are blitzed and need some quick food.  You can't beat NY style pizza for $4 a slice.  There were actually a lot of people hanging out in the place, prob about 20 and it looks like it can hole 10.  They do get bonus points for having old fat Italian guys cooking the pies, it just inspires confidence in the pie.  I can't really recommend this for anything but in and out, that purpose was met for us.

Patty's Closet Outfit of the Week
This outfit has so far been my favorite outfit of the week. Thanks to Patty and Juan of Patty's Closet with providing me with and helping me pick out this week's outfit. As we know this Jersey girl loves leopard print, so when I saw this mini I was sold immediately. You can wear it high waisted like I did, or if you don't like to show a lot of leg, you can wear it at the hip and it becomes longer. The white collared shirt has beautiful detailing with the white ruffles and then fabric pieces on top of the ruffles. It is something that you can wear to work or wear on a go out like I did! I also love that you can mix and match both pieces with different things.
